They wear kiddie couture to the playground and sit front row (on Mum’s lap) at Fashion Week. Meet Tinseltown’s latest crop of super-stylish, trendsetting toddlers.
Step aside Suri Cruise, there’s a new trendsetter in town who also likes to don designer shoes and handbags – it’s Jennifer Lopez’s four-year-old daughter Emme Muniz.
Recently seen swanning around Paris Fashion Week with her famous mama, Emme attended her first runway show as a VIP at Chanel’s 2013 collection. The fashion-forward tot marked the occasion by wearing more than $2400 worth of Chanel accessories!
Emme’s quilted white Chanel butterfly bag reportedly retails for over $2100, while the brooch she popped onto her pretty pink dress cost more than $300. And don’t even ask about the shoes.
With so many celebrity mums turning their hand to fashion design, it’s little wonder that Hollywood kids such as Kingston Rossdale, Suri Cruise, Harper Beckham and Skyler Berman (Rachel Zoe’s little tyke) are making their mark as mini fashionistas.
“It’s too much fun,” says Zoe, who favours quirky fedora hats for Skyler’s public appearances. “It’s like dressing a living doll. He has no opinion.”

And while Katie Holmes is embracing the world of fashion design with the debut of her Holmes & Yang label at New York Fashion Week, she’s drawn a line in the sand when it comes to Suri’s obsession with kiddie couture.
The budding young stylista is renowned for her eye-popping outfits, and is regularly photographed playing in heels and high-end labels such as Stella McCartney Kids. But Katie has recently had a change of heart and asked that designers take her daughter off their VIP lists and stop sending her free samples.
Perhaps this is so she can dress her exclusively in Holmes & Yang’s line for girls, which was inspired by Suri’s individual approach to fashion. “I’m constantly amazed by all the colours and layers that Suri will put together,” Holmes told style.com. And as for the key design requirement of the range? “It has to twirl.”
Should Suri’s love of twirling – or lack of designer freebies – cause her ‘style icon’ crown to start slipping, there won’t be any shortage of celebrity kids ready to scoop it up.
Harper Seven Beckham may not be wearing any of her mummy’s award-winning looks (pencil skirts can be so tricky to crawl in!), but there’s no shortage of baby chic in her closet. Her tastes run to Chloé, Stella McCartney Kids, Little Marc Jacobs, Bonpoint and Burberry.
“She has so many little dresses,” doting daddy Beckham said of his one-year-old daughter. “I didn’t realise how excited I would get over buying hair bows.”
Relative newcomers to the high-style stakes are Tori Spelling’s brood. Until now they’ve mainly been known for their love of kooky Halloween outfits, but they’ve had to step it up a notch to help spruik the family’s latest commercial venture.
The new kiddies’ line Little Maven by Tori Spelling has just been launched in the US this September. It features “bright pops of colour and fun, playful patterns…and all of the designs have passed Stella’s style test and are Liam-approved for comfort (plus Hattie’s been the perfect model),” Spelling said of her three mini muses.
And no trendsetters’ list would be complete without mentioning Kingston Rossdale, famous for those punk rock looks that are all his own doing, according to mum Gwen Stefani.
“At this age they like to be in control of everything, so I let him choose,” the L.A.M.B. designer told US InStyle magazine. “Luckily, everything in his closet is cute so no matter what he picks, he’s gonna look good. For a while he was into costumes. Now he doesn’t even want to wear shoes.”
