Nadya "Octomom" Suleman has nabbed the top spot on Babble.com's Most Controversial Mom list, staving off a challenge from reality TV star Kate Gosselin, from Jon & Kate Plus 8, and the former Republican vice-presidential candidate from Alaska who can see Russia from her house, Sarah Palin.

The list's most surprising inclusion, however, was Angelina Jolie at number nine. The mother of six, including three adopted children, is a UNHCR goodwill ambassador. Aside from winning several Golden Globes, Jolie has been awarded a Citizen of the World Award by the United Nations Correspondents Association, the Global Humanitarian Award by the UNA-USA and the Freedom Award from the International Rescue Committee.

Thankfully Babble.com balanced Jolie's inclusion on the list — surrounded by celeb wannabes, failed starlets and Britney Spears — by including her at number two on the best mom list, which was taken out by US first lady, Michelle Obama.

"Sure, [Jolie] may have an eccentric, brother-kissing, blood vial-wearing past, but now she's a mother who instils empathy, compassion and generosity — and for that, we love her," Babble.com wrote.

Babble.com's most controversial mom has barely made it out of the headlines this week. First there were reports she was about to lose her house after failing to make repayments, and then there was the offer made to her by adult film company Vivid Entertainment.

Vivid Entertainment offered to pay for the mother of 14's house if she appeared in at least one of their productions, TMZ.com reported.

"Definitely one of the most controversial moms ever — Nadya Suleman (dubbed "Octomom") made headlines as an unemployed, single mother of six (on public assistance) when she gave birth to octuplets in January, 2009," Babble.com wrote.

"The country stood in shock, until it was revealed Nadya intentionally had six embryos implanted in her because she couldn't bear to see them destroyed. To say the public perception of Octomom is negative is an understatement, but we probably won't be seeing the last of Nadya Suleman or her 14 simultaneously crying children — the real victims in this situation."
