Angelina Jolie has revealed that she never wanted to have her own children — until she met Brad Pitt.

"When I met him ... I didn't want to get pregnant," Jolie told Australia's Marie Claire magazine. "I always wanted to adopt, but I never had the desire of experiencing biological motherhood."

The couple met in 2005 when they were filming the action movie Mr & Mrs Smith, when Pitt was still married to Jennifer Aniston. Jolie already had one adopted son, Cambodian orphan Maddox, now eight years of age, and had started the process to adopt her Ethiopian daughter Zahara, who is now five years of age.

They now have three biological children, three-year-old daughter Shiloh and 18-month-old twins Knox and Vivienne, and a third adopted son from Vietnam, six-year-old Pax.

Jolie told Marie Claire that Pitt had changed her life. "He's taught me to be more patient and to enjoy everything that we have," she said.

There are rumours that Jolie and Pitt are considering adopting an orphan from Haiti, their fourth adopted child and number seven in the pair's brood, ShowbizSpy.com reported.

Jolie, who is a goodwill ambassador to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees and UNICEF, recently visited the Dario Contreras Hospital in the Dominican Republic and reportedly met with the country's president, Leonal Fernâdez to discuss the potential adoption.

The Jolie-Pitt Foundation has also donated $1.14 million to support the Doctors Without Borders organisation, which is currently providing emergency services in Haiti in the wake of the devastating earthquake. Around 230,000 people have been killed in the disaster according to Haitian officials.

"I want to raise my children correctly and help them to understand the inequality that exists in the world," Jolie told Marie Claire.
