Forget musicians, sport stars and world leaders. The next generation of babies are being named after characters from the most popular films and TV shows.

According to baby-naming website Nameberry, the most popular name for newborns is Rue, the fictional heroine from the hit teen movie and book series The Hunger Games, while the second is Emmett – after the dimple-cheeked vampire from the Twilight series.

Despite racist remarks about the Hunger Games' black stars made by a few fans which made the news recently, it seems that avid fans still love Rue's character - enough to name their kids after her!

Other top baby names that made the list:

  • 1. Rue
  • 2. Emmett
  • 3. Ivy (as in Blue Ivy) and Adele
  • 4. Grayson (from hit TV series, Revenge)
  • 5. Aria (A play on Arya from Game of Thrones)
  • 6. Cato (also from The Hunger Games)
